EU foreign ministers are to adopt the tougher sanctions during their regular monthly meeting in Brussels on Monday.
The 27-nation bloc last beefed up sanctions on the regime on December 8. At the time, the list of people covered by restrictions had 168 names on it and 40 companies were targeted by sanctions.
During a trip to South Africa on January 16, Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg, whose country holds the EU presidency, said the bloc planned to tighten sanctions. – AFP
