Warders may have helped in prison break

A group of carjackers and armed robbers escaped from Masvingo Remand Prison at the weekend.

Police and prison officers are now hunting for six convicts after one of the escapees was captured.

The prisoners were being held for serious crimes, including carjacking and armed robbery.

Some sources believe they were helped to escape by prison workers, though it is believed they men had been temporarily kept in an office after an outbreak of cholera in the prison.

Police said they were investigating the incident and questioning prison guards.
