Agricultural exports to increase

Agricultural exports are expected to increase significantly within the next few seasons following recent farming reforms announced by the Government to revitalise the sector.

Agricultural economists said exports could rise in the coming seasons if the reform measures announced by Reserve Bank Governor Gideon Gono and Acting Minister of Finance  Patrick Chinamasa were taken seriously.

Industry should provide resources at competitive prices and this will see farmers increasing their production. There are domestic and international markets, so the volumes of the produce have to satisfy domestic markets first before we talk of exporting," said Gwaringa.
