JOHANNESBURG - Zimbabwe international defender Zwenyika Makonese believes he will be a major hit at Orlando Pirates.

The tough-tackling defender joined the former African champions on
Friday from Cape Town-based Santos. He signed a three-year deal to end
speculations concerning his future.

"I’m very excited to have signed for a big club like Pirates. It is a
big challenge for me to raise my game to another level," he said.
"Playing in front of big crowds will be good for me. I am used to that
kind of atmosphere having played in front of capacity crowds for my
national team."

Makonese becomes the second Zimbabwean at Pirates after Gilbert Mushangazhike.

His signing ends speculation about his future. There were reports he
had fallen into trouble at Santos due to alleged indiscipline. He
recently denied there was a major rift between him and head coach David
Bright.
