Open letter

  1. Why did you find it necessary
to spend 90 per cent of the speech either exonerating yourself or
defending your past deeds? Anyone given your speech without its background
would think you were a defendant in a court case.
  2. Do you honestly think that the
profiteering businesses, like ‘kupisa’ should be blamed on individuals?
Having spent your entire career in the financial sector, albeit starting
at tea boy level, have you ever seen a rational economic being who forgoes
a profit opportunity to serve patriotism? Are you saying the system was
good and it’s the people who are bad?
  3. It is an open secret that you
printed money to fund the election campaign of Zanu (PF). Does such a
quasi-fiscal operation fall under "necessary" and
    "inevitable" Doctor?
  4. When you start talking about
people’s behaviour (religious and social), topics that are often left to
moral institutions, and stand on a high ground from which you label and
categorize human beings, on what authority do you derive such a mandate? I
couldn’t see it in the Banking Act.
  5. And if you can find fault with
everyone except yourself and go on to enforce punitive enforcement
measures that we saw on projects like Operation Sunrise, what more would
you do if you had state executive powers?
Just out of curiosity, are you still a normal, rational human being Dr
    Gono?
