In reply the Westerns were strong and determined to clinch a victory,
but they were confined to a 225 total on the crease, to give Stephen
Mangongo's men a 45-runs-victory, which saw them being dubbed the 2009
winners.
Bernard Mlambo top scored with 66, ten boundaries and a six off 72 balls, to empower the Easterns' batting.
Prosper Utseya (53), Timycen Maruma (46), Forster Mutizwa (53) and
Steven Nyamuzinga (30) all contributed to a defendable total that
sealed Easterns victory. Njabulo Ncube bowled well recording three
wickets for 56, but his stunning performance failed to pull back the
victors of the series.
Easterns are also the reigning champions for the Logan Cup. They have
faced a close contests from Northerns, in recent years, but they have
always proved to be a powerhouse in domestic cricket.

Cricket giants Easterns, last Saturday retained the Faithwear Series Trophy following a victory over Westerns at Takashinga Cricket Club.
