The MDC has declared March as the month of mourning following the untimely death of Amai Susan Nyaradzo Tsvangirai, the wife MDC President and the Prime Minister Hon.

As a result, all party programmes that were set for this month such as
the national party conference and the 10th anniversary celebratory
rally scheduled for this Sunday at Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo have
been deferred to a date to be announced.

The national conference had been scheduled for 27-29 March in Mutare in Manicaland province.

Amai Tsvangirai died at Beatrice Hospital following a fatal car
accident along the Harare – Masvingo Highway in which the Primem
Minister sustained head and neck injuries.

Hon. Tsvangirai is recuperating with his family in South Africa.

In light of these saddening developments, the MDC has decided to share
this moment of grief with the Tsvangirai family and the nation at large.

Amai Tsvangirai was the mother of our struggle, the rock of our journey towards democracy.

The MDC wishes to thank Zimbabweans from all walks of life who grieved
and continue to grieve with us and our President in this dark moment.

We hope that the journey towards democracy for which she selflessly
dedicated her life and that of her entire family will soon be realised.
