The Mercedes Benz – which was heavily damaged following the car crash that happened at around 7pm – was from state owned Central Mechanical Engineering Department (CMED).

Gorden Moyo, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office and Samuel Sipepa Nkomo, the Water Resources Minister emerged with minor injuries following the car accident that happened on their way to the Harare Airport to catch a flight to Bulawayo.
Moyo's knee was sprained while Nkomo emerged with backache. Moyo who prior to being appointed Minister was the Bulawayo Agenda Director , confirmed the car accident.
The Benz that we were traveling in was hit from behind when we were approaching airport.
The car that hit our Benz flipped and I don't know whether the occupants of that car died on or not as we were later driven to the airport to catch a flight, said Moyo who was treated at the private Garlen House Hospital upon arrival in Bulawayo.
Water Resources Minister, Nkomo could not be reached for comment. Wayne Bvudzijena, the Police spokesperson was also not available for comment. Commenting about the accident, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister's office said I would like to think it was an accident. It looked like an accident to me.
The accident follows a car crash that killed Susan, the wife of the country's premier, Morgan Tsvangirai last week. Tsvangirai’s wife, Susan, was killed and he was injured Friday when a foreign aid truck hit their car, sending it flipping over at least three times.
Political tensions with President Robert Mugabe, Tsvangirai’s partner in a new unity government, had prompted speculation over the cause of the crash.
Tsvangirai ruled out any foul play but official investigation is underway. The driver of the truck which sideswiped the Prime Minister’s vehicle on a notoriously dangerous stretch of the Harare-Masvingo road appeared in court on Monday, charged with culpable homicide.
Chinoona Mwanda appeared at a court in Chivhu, 150km (90 miles) south of Harare, accompanied by three plain-clothed police officers. His bail application was granted and he was remanded to return to court on March 23. The British and United States governments have officially said they believe the crash was a tragic accident.
