Punish rights violators or lose aid

HARARE - Zimbabwe's inclusive government should carry out comprehensive justice reforms without delay to ensure accountability for past abuses or lose out on financial support from the international community, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said yesterday.

The HRW said southern African leaders who meet tomorrow in Swaziland,
to consider ways to assist Zimbabwe raise US$2 billion in financial
support from the international community should use the opportunity to
pressure the Harare government to demonstrate its commitment to human
rights reforms before it can be helped raise aid.
