BULAWAYO - Chimanimani Arms hotel in is battling to recover a debt of US$92 from Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Planning, Samuel Undenge, which was accrued in Septembe

According to workers at the hotel, Undenge, who is also the local
Member of Parliament for Chimanimani East, brought two ladies to the
hotel on September 12 and ordered lunch and drinks amounting to US$92
and left without settling the till.

An Invoice seen by The Zimbabwean confirms this.

We have been battling to recover the money from the deputy minister.
When we contacted him recently he told us that the bill should be paid
by the Chimanimani Rural District Council, said a source at the hotel
who refused to be named.

The source said following the incident Undenge who used to regularly
frequent the hotel owned by the former Member of Parliament for the
area Michel Mataure is no longer patronizing the hotel.

Since then, Undenge only passed through here on Independence Day to
use toilets. It seems he is avoiding this place now because of the
debt, said a hotel worker.

Undenge refused to comment.
