CHEGUTU -- Four farm workers were last week severely beaten for talking to Deputy Prime Minister Authur Mutambara during his tour of invaded farms in the Chegutu area.

According to Chegutu West ward nine councillor Edward Dzeka, the four
workers from Twyford Farm — which has been occupied by Zanu (PF)
Senator Jamaya Muduvuri – were among ordinary people who spoke to
Mutambara and told him of how the farm was seized by hordes of Zanu
(PF) militia.

But soon after Mutambara left, the Zanu (PF) youths immediately came to
find out who had spoken to Mutambara and selected the four for
punishment.

They cannot even walk and they have not been taken to hospital because
they need a police report and the police are refusing to look into the
case. The four are also accused of being members of the ZCTU-affiliated
GAPWUZ trade union, said Dzeka.

It was not possible to get an immediate comment on the mater from the
police in Mashonaland West or the Zanu (PF) leadership in the province.

Twyford farm was among the farms visited by a ministerial delegation
led by Mutambara who ordered Jamaya to peacefully cohabit with the
farm’s owners until the government decides on the wrangle over the
property.
