The committee said UK and USA fans lovers from the USA had made 44 004
applications for the first ever world cup to be played on African soil,
going into the third week of the second phase of ticket sales.

The UK is second with 32 413 requests, said FIFA media officer Delia Fischer Thursday.

She added that 297 188 tickets had been requested in the second phase,
162 844 of them for individual match tickets and 134 344 for team
specific ticket series.

A total number of 112,616 tickets have been requested by South
Africans. All applicants who submitted their requests on the first week
will be informed until Friday by SMS or per email if their application
has been successful – fully or partly, added Fischer.

Applications for the second phase can be made until 16 November 2009
via the FIFA website or at the branches of South Africa's First
National Bank.

Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis and each
applicant can apply for up to four tickets per match and up to seven
matches in total.

The ticket prices start at USD 20 or R140.
