Zanu chair admits party not committed to agreement

For us to get back our support, we have to show the masses that we are a party for national building. We have to see the inclusive set-up become a success, said Nkomo.

He said that for Zanu to retain its stronghold it had to show commitment to the allinclusive government.

However, Zanu (PF) is still to honour all the outstanding issues of the global political agreement.

Nkomo was speaking at a Zanu (PF) gathering in Lupane. He also said that the party was facing serious disciplinary problems that had resulted in the party failing to get support from the grassroots.

There is serious indiscipline in the party at all levels. People no longer observe protocol

and there is an increase in disrespect of seniors in our party; something that is worrying, he said.

We need to work together as a unit to end that kind of behaviour in the party if we are to retain our traditional support base.

Nkomo addressed the gathering at the same time that the revived Zapu was holding its

special congress in Bulawayo.

There, it was resolved that people like Nkomo, who got into power as a benefit of the 1987 Unity Accord between Zanu (PF) and Zapu, had been disowned.
