According to highly placed Zanu (PF) sources in the area, the two Zanu
(PF) heavyweights are fighting for control of the district. They first
clashed in public on Independence Day when Undenge overturned a multi
party district independence celebrations committee’s decision to
nominate Mutsvangwa as the guest of honour for the celebrations.
Mutsvangwa is now leading a faction of Zanu (PF) supporters plotting to oust Undenge during the next elections.
Sources said Mutsvangwa is now campaigning for Joshua Sako, the son of a local white
commercial farmer.
"During the weekend Mutsvangwa and Sako held a Zanu (PF) rally at Machongwe
ward in the district where they denounced Undenge, said a Zanu (PF) source who attended the meeting.
