17 students to study in USA

gratuation_capHARARE - Seventeen Zimbabwean students have collectively been offered four-year scholarships worth over US$5.5 million dollars to study in the United States, according to US ambassador James McGee.


The talented but economically-disadvantaged students but were selected from schools across the country including Harare High, Milton, Regina Mundi and Kriste Mambo, Glen View I and Kutama College, St. Faiths Rusape, Monte Cassino and St. Dominics, Highfield, and Zengeza I High.

“In addition to being straight A-students, USAP participants also exhibit demonstrated leadership potential and the ethos of giving back to their community,” said McGee.

All the students underwent an intensive one year program dubbed the United States Student Achievers Program (USAP).

McGee said USAP was established in 1999, USAP is celebrating its tenth year of assisting highly-talented, economically-disadvantaged A level students to negotiate and finance the process of obtaining full scholarships to study at selective US colleges and universities.
