Breaking news: Patrick Kombayi has died

According to information made available to CAJ News on Sunday evening, Kombayi died of old wounds sustained from the injuries when shot by the late Zanu PF politburo member and vice president Simon Muzenda’s body guards during the early 1990s parliamentary elections.

In an interview, Movement for Democratic Change Veterans Association
(MDCVAA) Chairperson, Sox Chikohwero, Kombayi died on Sunday and funeral arrangements are in progress in the Midlands capital city of Gweru.

“I am not the right person to comment about his death, but the full details will be announced on Monday (today) at the Midlands hotel,” said Chikohwero. Kombayi, who has been to South Africa for 18 months as a result of internal injuries sustain during the shoot out fiasco has left a wife and five children.

Zanu (PF) leadership and MDC were making frantic efforts last night to arrange about the burial and liberation status Kombayi should be afforded.
