MDC appalled by Durban’s Home Affairs

asylumDurban - The leadership of MDC in KwaZulu Natal is dismayed by the pace at which applications for asylum papers are being processed by the Home Affairs department in Durban.

Only four people are being helped a week, much to the dissatisfaction of our members who would have spent weeks queuing for the papers of life. This is despite the fact that the MDC leadership in Durban had resolved to offer cleaning services to Home Affairs building as good gesture for assistance the department is supposed to be offering to Zimbabweans.

MDCs KZN Chairman, Nhamo Chikowore was compelled to introduce a feeding scheme to help Zimbabwe asylum seekers who are known for queuing for long hours.

Some faint after queuing for days without food.

We urge the Department of Home Affairs to treat the Zimbabwe issue as a special case which needs immediate attention.
