NGOs fund public toilets

city_councilBULAWAYO - The Bulawayo City Council has started re-opening public toilets around the city. In an interview with the Mayor, Councillor Thaba Moyo, it emerged that funding from non-governmental organisations had enabled the local authority to address the issue of public toilets. The city was once one of the cleanest in Africa, but lack of funds had made it imposs

Meanwhile, city residents have complained that the council has not followed the refuse collection schedule that it recently released. The chairman of the Bulawayo United Residents Association (BURA), Winos Dube, said:

“Residents have been complaining that the council is not sticking to the schedule,” he said. Moyo said this was because of constant vehicles breakdown. “We have drawn up another programme for refuse collection that has already started in other areas, he said.
