Zanu thugs attack MDC supporters at rally

mdc_supportersCHIMANIMANI - Six MDC supporters in Cashel Valley were injured on Saturday when they were attacked by a group of Zanu (PF) supporters and war veterans.
The six were among those who had gathered for a rally at the local primary school. The police had given permission for the rally.

According to our clearance letter from the police, our meeting was supposed to have started from 10am to 2pm, but we could not do anything because Zanu (PF) supporters had invaded the venue and started to assault our people with logs, sticks and electric cables, said Pardon Maguta, the MDC co-ordinator for Chimanimani district and one of the organisers of the aborted meeting.

Maguta said police from Cashel witnessed the attack, but did nothing to stop it and did not make any arrests.

Despite the inclusive government, local people say Zanu (PF) supporters in the area

Continue to harass MDC supporters.

Last month, headman Weston Chitombo ordered three MDC activists to pay 200 rand and two goats to him for campaigning for the MDC in the area.
