The couple was fighting over some money that Mpala had withdrawn from her husbands bank account. I had no money and decided that I should withdraw some from his account, since I knew his pin number, said Mpala. However, when I told him about that last Sunday, he slapped and kicked me out of the house, saying that he wanted to bring in his girlfriend.
Kapinis wife said that she and the child had been spent several cold nights sleeping outdoors. Mpala added that this was not the first time she had had to contend with abuse from Kapini, who plays for Platinum Stars in the ABSA premiership.
He has been very abusive, both physically and emotionally since we moved here in January, yet he is the one who asked me to leave my job in Zimbabwe to come and join him here. He usually spends days without coming home whenever he gets paid and that has been affecting our marriage, she said.
Kapini, who admits that the couple has marital problems, accused his wife of withdrawing money from his bank account without his knowledge and failing to account for it. I have forgiven her and she is ready to come home, said the goalkeeper.
