DJ faces rape charges

justice_logoHARARE - Former TV presenter-cum-DJ, Charles Arnold, aka DJ Charlie Boy, has denied charges of raping a 16-year-old girl and infecting her with HIV. Popularly known as Charlie Boy and later DJ Charlie Phresh, he has appeared in court facing three counts of rape.

Arnold has been formally charged but has pleaded not guilty. The victim, who lives in the city with her mother, allegedly met Arnold on December 31. This was just before a modelling contest that Arnold was supposed to host at Paparazzi Night Club, where he was a manager. But due to an electrical blackout, the modelling contest was called off.
Arnold then took the models to his flat for an “after-party.” He was accused of raping the girl repeatedly over the space of three days.

The girl’s mother followed her daughter to Arnold’s house to take her home. On March 18 the girl tested HIV positive. A report was made to the police and Arnold was arrested the following day.
