A claim has been lodged by Patrick Masunda who was shot by one of Nkomo’s guards at Jijima Lodge in Matabeleland North. Masunda, whose brother Langton Masunda is involved in a land dispute with John Nkomo, was shot on May 9, 2009. It was alleged that war veteran Eddie Sigoge, Nkomos employee, shot him five times.

In the pending law suit, Majoko and Majoko legal practitioners representing Masunda said:

“Our Client was fired at five times and all bullets hit their intended target. As a result of the gunshot wounds our client suffered pain, shock, suffered disfigurement and loss of amenities. Our client had to be hospitalized at great cost and expense and he still needs further medical attention.”

Sigoge, 61, appeared in court charged with attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm in May.
