PUBLIC SERVICE SALARY REVIEWS INADEQUATE AND UNACCEPTABLE:

zimta_logoZimbabwe Teachers Association (ZIMTA), while welcoming the re-introduction of salaries for educators and the rest of the Public servants would like to reject the quantum as a pittance inconsequential, and a non event. The accession that the salaries review was influenced by cost drivers like rentals, fuel, school levies and utility bills is nothing but a

ZIMTA believes very strongly that Government could do better than this, considering that the salary issue has been on the table for the last seven months. There was ample time for Government to consider alternative methods of funding employment costs for the impoverished Public Servants. We want to urge Government to engage Public Servants immediately, so as to draw up an improvement agenda on the salaries. The finance bill presented to parliament should be revised to accommodate this need and should not be allowed to pass in this form. All Parliamentarians are urged to apply themselves in revising this element of the Finance bill.

ZIMTA will be forced to invoke desperate measures to induce response, should Government fail to build promissory road map towards equitable salaries.
