Chidzambwa, who is presently in Sofia, Bulgaria to monitor how the Zimbabwe Under-20 squad would fare in this four nation tournament, indicated that he would like to lay a strong foundation by fusing junior players from the national under-17s, 20s, 21s and under-23 squads respectively.

Four nations comprising the hosts Bulgaria, Georgia and South Africa would field their 21-squads while the Warriors sent the under-20s squad.

Zimbabwe under-20 national team is being coached by former Highlanders coach, Methembe Ndlovu, but Chidzambwa found it fit for him to be there to assess the performance with a view to pick up deserving juniors to the senior national squad.

Zimbabwe is set to host the southern African regional football tournament re-branded as (COSAFA Senior Challenge Cup) with countries such as Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland and Zambia participating.

After failing to qualify in both the 2010 World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola, Zimbabwe is leaving on stone unturned in its quest to make a “fresh start” in the continental football championship.
