The policeman was on travelling by train from Harare to Bulawayo when thieves accosted him. Officer Qhubekhani Khumalo had been drinking during his journey and had passed out in the carriage.
The accused, 24-year-old Njabulo Sibanda of 65 Windermere Road, last week appeared before magistrate Thobekile Mkhosana facing theft charges. He was remanded in custody to September 9.
