Mourners short-changed at Zanu burial

mournersBULAWAYO - Mourners attending the burial of the late Zanu (PF) Bulawayo deputy provincial chairperson, Jimmy Nleya, have accused Zanu officials of distributing food at the funeral only to party supporters.

I have never seen a funeral where mourners are required to put on political party regalia for them to get food or to have more food than others, said David Mpofu, who was denied food. I am not a Zanu (PF) supporter, but I attended Jimmy’s funeral because he was my neighbour and, despite him being a Zanu (PF) supporter, we used to greet each other.
Another mourner said she was shocked at what she witnessed at Nleyas funeral.
After the burial, everybody was asked to converge at the deceaseds house in Tshabalala for food as per our tradition, but what surprised us all is that Zanu (PF) womens league officials who were in charge of the distribution of food openly favoured mourners in party regalia. When my turn for food arrived I was only given sadza with soup, while Zanu (PF) supporters were given chunks of meat, she said.
The mourners also accused Zanu (PF) supporters of singing songs denigrating the Prime Minister and the MDC during the funeral, which was attended by senior Zanu (PF) supporters from Bulawayo.
