NEW ZIMBABWE LECTURE SERIES-TENDAI BITI SPEAKS

tendai_biti_3The Constitution is the supreme document of the land and the foundation upon which democracy and good governance should be built on. It provides how a people would want to be governed thus it is paramount for the people to be at the epicenter of crafting this immortal and sacred document. (Pictured: Tendai Biti)

The Constitution-making process underway is prescribed under Article 6 of the Global Political Agreement.
A major challenge faced by those making the Constitution is the designing of a system of governance that maximizes protection of individual members of society while minimizing opportunities for governments to harm them.
Does the current process under Article 6 of the GPA provide for the making of a proper Constitution that reflects the true hopes and aspirations of Zimbabweans? What is the role of the Kariba Draft in the Constitution making process, how are the people being consulted for the process and the outcome thereof to be legitimate and acceptable?
For these and all other questions, the public is thus invited to this New Zimbabwe Lecture Series on the Constitution making process.
