BULAWAYO - The police regional transport workshops have not materialised due to a critical shortage of funds. Senior Assistant Commissioner Lee Muchemwa confirmed that the regional transport workshops had been lying idle for a number of years. He said the critical shortage of financial resources was the main constraint, adding that the construction work stoppSince then nothing concrete had been done.
“It does not necessarily mean that police have neglected the workshops, we know everything that needs to be done, but the issue of funds to complete the construction work remains a constraint, said Muchemwa.
The regional police transport workshop is meant to provide services to the southern region comprising of the two Matabeleland provinces, Masvingo and Midlands.
Muchemwa said police were currently using the provincial workshops to service their vehicles adding that police were making efforts to partner with the business community to source funds.
