Bonding is the period of time that students who have completed their studies are supposed to work in Zimbabwe. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of more than 600 students at the Bulawayo Polytechnic College in Bulawayo on Friday, Mudenge said Zimbabwe was being affected by serious brain drain and the government would soon bond all students who have completed their studies.
You should work for the good of the country as we are at a critical juncture. Considering that the government is involved in vigorous projects to revive the country’s economy, I urge you to restrain yourselves from the temptation of greener pastures,” said Mudenge.
This comes as the health ministry has increased the period of bond for nurses to compensate for the time that they were on strike last year over low pay. Years back Zimbabwe nurses used to be bonded for period not exceeding three years.
