Trust fights stigmatisation of orphans

The trust works with vulnerable children and runs workshops to train teachers and care facilitators to handle children with difficulties. It pioneers projects to assist vulnerable children. Some of these projects include gardening, goat rearing and mobilizing resources necessary for the improvement of the childrens welfare.

Children in intervention areas where the trust is working are now able to play together at play centres. The gap between the vulnerable and the less vulnerable has been reduced, including improved school retention through provision of school fees and related learning resources. This is being achieved through Hope Tariro Trusts Integrated Orphan Care programme.

According to a recent report by Hope Tariro Trust, guardians are now able to take care of orphans as their own children. Orphans who attended a recent workshop conducted by the trust remarked that they now felt like children in their families and not like outsiders.

A report produced after a strategic planning workshop by the trust noted that the community was now armed with information about the spread of HIV and AIDS.
