Broke committee appeals for cars

cars_4x4HARARE - The Co- Chairperson of the Parliamentary Select Committee, Douglas Mwonzore, has urged the business community to invest in the constitution-making process.

The Select Committee remains under funded. We require 25 cars for the select committee. We urge the business community to invest in the constitution-making process, said Mwonzore.

Apart from the 25 cars the Select Committee also requires an additional 140 cars for the outreach teams, food and medical kits.

Last week the Select Committee announced the names of deputy chairpersons of the thematic committees who were drawn from civil society amid fears that the committees might not reach the constitution deadline set for August next year.

Already there are fears that elections will be delayed due to the delay in the constitutional making process.

Speaking at Zanu (PF) Womens league last week President Robert Mugabe said elections would only come after the constitution. Mugabe stands by the Patrick Chinamsa-authored Kariba Draft which he wants imposed on the people.
