The Chairman of MDC in Johannesburg district, Jimmy Mhlanga announced yesterday that Giyani Dube was relieved of his position as the Publicity and Information Secretary of the Party. His demotion followed after he repeatedly refused to follows a directive from Harvest House to leave VAA, an organisation whose objectives are at variance with MDC.
Mhlanga told members of his executive at a meeting during the weekend that Giyani Dube left him with no option except to relieve him of his position after he failed to tow a bold line.
Members of the Joburg executive are also incensed with Giyani Dube after he circulated posters with two wrong venues for a rally which was addressed by President Morgan Tsvangirai. In his posters, he indicated Berea Park and Joburt Park as the venue of the rally, yet the spot was Wits University Great Hall. “I wonder what his motive was?,” asked one of his former colleagues.
