The programme, which will be launched soon, will make sure that the young offenders have a fair opportunity for reparation when they have offended,” said the deputy minister. for their actions, without labelling them as criminals.

“There are numerous cases in which the young offenders are remanded in custody for very long periods just for the simple reason that there are a few officers to document reports. This programme is in line with the United Nations Convention on the rights of the child and it will open the judicial process for educational and rehabilitation procedures to come into action for the benefit of the children and everyone else” said Majome.
