Zanu (PF)s daylight abduction

MARONDERA - Zanu (PF) officials abducted a vehicle driver on Wednesday afternoon only seven km out of town. The driver, who was driving a pick-up truck full of passengers, was abducted for not pulling off the road to allow Zanu (PF) officials driving towards him, full use of the strip road.

The Zanu (PF) official and his colleague, ordered the driver into their truck and drove him to nearby Kasaba farm. They left the shocked passengers behind.

One of my captors asked if I had ever heard about dead bodies of traitors dumped in Winimbe dam last year. They drove me to the farm sheds where they phoned farm managers to ask if they had donkey work for captured MDC activists. The driver asked the other official how best they could assassinate me without wasting time. That is when I offered them all the money I had, said the driver.

He found his way to town and did not report the incident to the police for fear of victimization.

In the run up to 2008 presidential elections, suspected MDC activists who were abducted in the district were assassinated at Kasaba farm before their dead bodies were dumped in Winimbe dam. Some 38 bodies were recovered from the dam and more human bones continue to be found by fishermen.
