50 years jail for cattle rustling

cattle_rusterGOKWE - Three serial cattle rustlers were last week slapped with 107 years jail after they were convicted of four counts of stock theft.

Willard Charadzera (35), Ngwarirai Makwati (23) and Joshua Nemangwe (41) appeared before Gokwe District Magistrate Noel Mupeyaiwa facing four counts of stock theft committed in Chief Chireyas area.

The forth accomplice Farirai Sweet (36) was acquitted of all charges. State counsel, Steven Ngwenya, told the court that Charadzera and Makwati masterminded the theft on all counts, while Farirai and Nemangwe facilitated the clearing of cattle in all counts.

The cattle were sold to an abattoir in Kwekwe. Only one was recovered. Charadzera and Makwati were each given 50 years jail terms, with 10 years suspended on condition of good behaviour.Nemangwe was given seven years imprisonment, with three years suspended.
