PSL fixtures secretary Godfrey Japajapa said Dynamos would be made to pay a hefty fine for the conduct of their fans. Japajapa said they did not condone violence and would slap Dynamos with a hefty fine for bringing the game of football into disrepute. “We do not condone violence. What Dynamos did is a bad advertisement of the game. We need to send a strong message to other would be offenders that any behaviour which brings football into disrepute is not tolerated. We are going to descend heavily on them otherwise we will be setting a bad precedent if we let them off the hook. They will have to be sanctioned for the behaviour of their fans,” said Japajapa adding that they were still waiting the report from the match official.
Incenced by their team’s 2-0 defeat to Lengthens, the Dynamos hooligans smashed the windscreen of defender Lovemore Mapuya’s car while defender David Shoko who was in Mapuya’s car was also injured as fans fought running battles with the police.
Head coach Elvis Chiweshe had to be escorted off the field by the police as a section of Dynamos fans in the notorious Vietnam stand threw missiles on the pitch forcing the referee to stop the match for about five minutes as missiles continued to rain on the pitch. Police had to intervene to disperse the irate fans after more than 30 minutes of skirmishes. Midfielder Ronald Sengu and Francis Mandiwanzira scored the two goals that counted for Lengthens to see off their more illustrious opponents. Dynamos now occupy second position on the log standings with 47 points from 25 matches.Moses Chunga’s Gunners lead the pack with 49 points from the same number of matches. Five matches now remain before the season ends.
Only last month Dynamos fans were also involved in violence during their league match against Njube Sundowns at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo as they protested the hike in gate entry charges by the home team. The PSL are yet to summon them to a disciplinary hearing.
