Loan extensions

znncBULAWAYO - Rural business operators have called for an extension period for the loan repayments offered by financial institutions.

The businesses have through the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) called upon government to intervene if they are to re-establish themselves after almost becoming insolvent. Banks are currently offering 30, 60 and 90-day loans.

ZNCC Gwanda chairman, Misheck Ndlovu, said: “We are lobbying that financial institutions offer loans for at least up to six months for business in rural areas given that business is relatively slow compared to cities. The economy is not yet what the people perceive it to be as we are still to find our feet as businesses.
