MDC must stay GPA course – villagers

mdc_symbolMREWA The MDC must not abandon the GPA, but should navigate the treacherous waters of the inclusive government until the electorate finishes off Zanu (PF) in the next free and fair general elections, villagers told MDC member of parliament for Mrewa South Ward Nezi last week.

Hundreds of MDC supporters from wards 15, Rhodzi and 25, Kadenge who converged to chart the political way forward said: “President Robert Mugabe is the most untrustworthy living person and his insincerity regarding the GPA is neither surprising nor a life-line for the bruised Zanu (PF). MDCs thrust to democratize the country must not be swayed by last kicks delivered by Mugabe’s dying party.”

“Zanu (PF) is like a gang of baboons invading a maize field. Under such circumstances, the owner of the field will not help matters by surrendering the crop to the marauding animals. They will ignorantly plunder the crop as they lack a sense of future planning. He must stave off the baboons whatever the cost. If the MDC quits the inclusive government, like baboons in a maize field, Zanu (PF) will terrorize people, plunder resources and slide the economy back to a free fall. There is no tomorrow for Zanu (PF),” warned a senior villager at Kadenge.

MP Nezi was also told by councillors throughout Mrewa South that, villagers want the MDC to stay put in the GPA until a people driven constitution is adopted and free and fair elections are held.

People across Mashonaland East, have warned Zanu (PF) against behaving as if it won 2008 general elections. “Mugabe should not forget that the people of Zimbabwe rejected his presidency in the watershed elections. He is only still in office courtesy of treacherous SADC heads of state. MDC president Morgan Tsvangirai must rise to Zanu (PF) arrogance, as the nation is behind him,” said a senior police officer who declined to be identified.
