NGO donation

isuzu_doubleLUPANE - A Non Governmental Organisation, Liechtenstein Development Service (LED), last Thursday donated a car, two motorbikes, 32 bicycles and an oil press to Lupane Womens Centre(LWC).

The donation was valued at US$40 000. Speaking at the ceremony LED regional representative for Southern Africa, Elizabeth Atzinger, said the donation marked a milestone in the history of development and empowerment of women in the district.

She said it would enable the centre to effectively and efficiently run various projects dotted around the district. In order to fulfil its mandate, the LWC needs to travel a lot in the communities. It is in this respect that LED saw it worthwhile to buy LWC a car, motorbikes for the field officers and bicycles for beneficiaries ward representatives to ease the travel and

communication process in the wards. What we will not be seeing today are the motorbikes, which are in transit, said Atzinger.

She said LED was committed to a world where women and men determined their own destiny through participatory consultation and brainstorming. Priority was given to gender issues, social justice and the environment.
