Recruitment centre helps Zims in SA

iomBEITBRIDGE - A new migration labour recruitment centre opened recently with the intention of facilitating the processing of immigration and employment requirements for Zimbabweans wishing to work on South African farms in the Limpopo Province.

The International Organisation for Migration’s Chief of Mission in Zimbabwe, Marcelo Pisani, said the main objective of the centre was to reduce irregular migration and promote safe and legal migration options for Zimbabweans.

“We are working in partnership with the Zimbabwean Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and the South African Department of Labour so that we reduce irregular migration between Zimbabwe and South Africa by facilitating the temporary migration of seasonal farm workers to the Limpopo Province,” he said.

The new centre is part of a pilot project, which would only cater for Zimbabweans intending to work at the South African farms in Limpopo province. He said Chiredzi, Masvingo and Beitbridge district labour offices would participate in the project where five commercial farms and 5 000 job seekers would be targeted in the pilot phase.
