CHIWESHE - Three Zanu (PF) activists have been arrested for beating and displacing teachers in the area.?The trio: Isdore Gwanzura, Elija Mafuta and Lovemore Zimbiti were picked up by Bindura police on October 23 after Chief Chinembiri and senior MDC officials made a report.
Dozens of Zanu (PF) supporters on October 20 brutalized teachers at Chaona, Chinehasha, Chideu, Jingangamvura and Chigwida schools. The thugs forced them to vacate the premises after accusing them of being MDC supporters.?
According to eyewitnesses, the perpetrators assaulted the teachers because Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai had withdrawn from the government.?
They were shouting that these teachers should vacate Chiweshe because?MDC was no longer part of Zanu (PF), On Monday, Zanu (PF) gangs led by a woman identified only as Mai Musarurwa blocked all boreholes and forced people to attend a meeting during which they told us that they wanted to eliminate all MDC supporters, said Fungai Mukanya, an affected teacher.
Teachers who were targeted by the thugs are receiving treatment at a hospital in Harare.
