Thaba Moyo said in his annual report that the money required was merely short term funding and he broke the cost down as follows:
US$2 million for reconstruction
US$2 million for pothole patching
US$1 million for intersections
Moyo said the 2008/2009 period had posed a lot of challenges in the maintenance of roads which resulted in work not being completed because of budgetary constraints and the fuel crisis. The Mayor said that to ensure the rehabilitation of the roads, council had introduced a road crossing permit fee, which is paid before commencement of works.
