Vendors sell PMs free newspaper

prime_minister_newsletterCHITUNGWIZA - Unscrupulous vendors here are now selling the Prime Ministers newsletter due to the popularity of the four paged paper that is published weekly.

The newsletter is so popular that people are willing to part with a rand (10 cents) in order to purchase the newsletter, as the majority do not have the money to buy popular newspapers, said a vendor at Makoni.

Due to the negative publicity that the Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai receives from the state-controlled mass media, his office publishes a regular newsletter. Sometimes I can afford to buy a real newspaper, like The Zimbabwean but not always because of financial constraints, said Tarisai Chuma. The Legal Monitor that is published by the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights is also very popular, to the extent that copies are bought and sold when the publication is supposed to be a free handout.
