War vets address land distribution

aenius_chigwedereMARONDERA-War veterans and collaborators here are mobilizing troops to confront governor, Aenius Chigwedere, (Pictured) and the provincial administrator, Cuthbert Ndarukwa, over unfair distribution of land.

Chigwedere and Ndarukwa, have allegedly been dispossessing grassroots Zanu (PF) supporters of farming plots previously allocated them. Relations soured when Chigwedere recently kicked off war collaborators from a Beatrice farm and allocated the farm to his son. The disgruntled war collaborators were forcibly relocated in the bushes of a Macheke farm.

Ndarukwa angered war veterans and collaborators when he visited the farm before the evictions.

We are reallocating land in a better and more orderly manner, unlike how you did it with Mugabe. Land allocations must be apolitical. Your allegiance to Zanu (PF) is not a factor here, Ndarukwa said.

A highly placed source in the war veterans association revealed that the war veterans and collaborators association in Marondera, has since written to President Robert Mugabe and other structures of the party, informing them of the development. A copy of the letter could not be secured at the time of going to print.
