Chidzambwa, whose team won the regional Cosafa Senior Challenge Cup for a record fourth time after beating Zambia 3-1 in the final, last week held discussions with ZIFA over the renewal of his contract which is soon to expire. The talks centred on his payment and grooming a team for the next African Nations Cup and World Cup qualifiers. ZIFA chief executive, Henrietta Rushwaya, confirmed the meetings with Chidzambwa and revealed that he was likely to stay on as Warriors coach.
“It’s very promising,” said Rushwaya. “The negotiations appear to be fruitful. We discussed preparations for the forthcoming Chan qualifiers, and the probability of friendlies, Rushwaya said. He has made the nation proud and all progressive people would want him to stay and from the look of things he will continue as the Warriors coach. She added that the negotiations were still continuing.
