The workers at the farm owned by South African farmer Louis Fick were shot by an employee of Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe deputy governor Edward Mashiringwani who has been battling to evict Fick from his property.
The General Secretary of the General Agriculture and Plantation Workers Union of Zimbabwe (GAPWUZ) condemned the attacks which the union said were a serious setback to attempts to achieve national healing and reconciliation process.
This does not only violate the basic human rights of the workers, but it also infringes the right to belonging and tramples upon the attempts to have this nation healed after more than a decade of trauma and repression, a top union official said.
The Christian Alliances Reverend Zvidzai said: While we are advocating for peace and national healing after years of trauma, the wounds are being re-opened and we would like to see the politicians going to the grassroots to educate their people to desist against violence and how can they do that if they are part of the violence.
