Cop up for housebreaking

zrp___police.jpegBULAWAYO A 22-year-old policeman based at Fairbridge appeared in court on November 20 facing charges of breaking into a workmate's house and stealing property worth US$300.


Mike Mahanzu was remanded out of custody on US$50 bail to December 9.

Mahanzu indicated that he was not admitting to the charge when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Thobekile Mkhosana-Matimbe.

Pauline Watambwa, for the State, told the court that during the night of April 25, 2009, Mahanzu went to Jackson Yotamu’s room and took a 21- inch colour television set, a radio and speakers, a DVD player and a home theatre speaker system.

He took the television set to his neighbour and left it there for safekeeping and took the rest of the property to his house, the court heard.
