HARARE The Royal Netherlands Embassy has donated US$27,000 to help set up and equip a resources centre run by the Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust.The Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) bought the premises.
Officially opening the centre at Harvey Brown Road, the Netherlands ambassador to
Zimbabwe, Joseph Weterings, said: The centre will create a platform for cultural innovation and development in Zimbabwe as well as encourage information and knowledge-sharing between Zimbabweans and the international world.
He said he hoped it would become a cultural hub, meeting place for artists and a platform where information and technical support would be provided to cultural
Practitioners.
The resource centre is equipped with computers, broadband internet, a library and a meeting room. It houses a collection of published and unpublished materials, documents on the arts and culture, development, gender mainstreaming, human rights, HIV/AIDS and many other local and international themes.
