Dynamos in turmoil, club chairman ousted in a vote of no confidence

dembare_logoHARARE- HARARE giants Dynamos have been rocked by internal squables again after its club chairman Partson Moyo was ousted in a vote of no confidence by a powerful coalition of the club's founder members and former players last week.

Dynamos, who are leading the Premier Soccer League standings with 53 points from 27 matches following their 1-0 victory over bitter rivals Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday have been trying to keep a tight lid on the the developments in a bid to keep the case away from the public amid fears that it could disrupt the club’s battle for the championship at a crucial stage of the campaign. Although Moyo also made the trip to Bulawayo for the match against Highlanders, sources close to Dynamos, however, revealed that the Harare giants have parted ways with the chairman.

The decision to pass a vote of no confidence on Moyo is a culmination of deteriorating working relationships between Moyo and secretary general Stan Kasukuwere and the board of directors on the other hand. Eight of the 11 members of the Dynamos board of directors passed a vote of no confidence in the Harare businessman’s leadership, of the country’s biggest and volatile football club. The eight Dynamos directors are Freddie Mkwesha, Robson Rundaba, Owen Chandamale, Ephraim Mupariwa, Charles Gwatidzo, Patrick Amato Dzvene, Sunday Chidzambwa and Bernard Marriot Lusengo.

Three other directors – board chairman Chiminya, Nathan Maziti and Jairos Banda – did not sign the document. It is alleged that the board was concerned that the executive committee members were awarding themselves allowances to go for away games without its approval. It is also alleged that Moyo has not yet accounted for every cent of the money advanced to him (US$600) for the trip to South Africa. Then there is also the issue of players salaries, bonuses and allowances. Moyo stands accused of failing to explain to the players the delay in paying them.
