Further delays in Dlodlo inquest

cleopas_dlodloJOHANNESBURG - The man accused of killing former-Zimbabwe defender, Cleopas Dlodlo (Pictured), has had his case further postponed to November 25.

The Johannesburg Magistrates Court this week postponed the matter pending further investigations as the court awaits the deceaseds post-mortem. Court papers also suggest that the court is still to clarify the identity of the accused, 27-year-old Knowledge Dube, after presentations by the prosecuting team that he was allegedly Zimbabwean but fraudulently acquired South African citizenship.

Prosecutor Lisa Davy said Dube had thus duped the courts into believing he was a South African national. If it is proven that Dube fraudulently acquired citizenship, his bail will be forfeited and he will be kept in custody. He is currently out on R2 000 bail. ***The Zimbabwean exclusively revealed that Dlodlo died as a result of tribalism. According to court documents, the fight was a tribal argument that turned nasty.

It is stated that some patrons at Out of Africa pub in Hillbrow were involved in tribal scuffles pitting Ndebeles against Kalangas. Dlodlo, who was Ndebele, tried to cool tempers, but in the melee he was hit on the head with a brick as the scuffle spilled out of the bar. The former Highlanders footballer died at the scene.
